City of Beaumont Recreation, Parks and Facilities Master Plan

Expedition was pleased to work with the City of Beaumont to develop the community’s first Recreation, Parks and Facilities Master Plan. The Master Plan engaged a broad range of internal and external stakeholders and incorporated detailed analyses to identify needs and gaps in service. The final Master Plan identified a future vision for recreation, parks and culture, guiding principles for service delivery, prioritized the top initiatives to complete in years 1 – 5, and described a clear path toward implementation with associated capital and operational budget impacts.

Project Highlights

UNANIMOUS APPROVAL

The Master Plan was unanimously approved by Beaumont City Council in January of 2020 and Administration has began implementing the plan right away.

HIGHLY SUCCESSFUL ENGAGEMENT PROCESS

The community engagement process was highly successful. In total, 1,254 people were engaged. This high degree of engagement ensured every individual and group had the opportunity to be heard and that the plan will be “owned” by the community going forward.

TRANSFORMATIVE IDEAS

The opportunity to develop a Cultural Corridor and a Recreation/School Co-located Site were described in the Master Plan. These two keystone ideas provided a transformative vision for a future Beaumont.

A FOCUS ON LAND DEVELOPMENT

Land development, land management and land use were identified as a top priority through the master planning process. Of particular importance was identifying recreational uses for newly acquired lands.
