Expedition was pleased to work with the Sylvan Lake and District Chamber of Commerce, the Town of Sylvan Lake and event industry stakeholders to develop a new tourism festival and event strategy. The plan outlined a compelling future vision for event development in the community and identified specific program ideas to be rolled out over the next 10 years. Other components of the project included community consultation, a market assessment, new organizational structure and operating model, funding opportunities, a detailed implementation plan and a case for investment.

Five unique opportunities for new tourism festivals and events were developed as part of the strategy.
A custom tourism festival and event assessment tool was developed as part of this project. The tool included 17 criteria that can be used to evaluate the tourism potential of existing and new festivals and events.
To support the case for investment, a projection of direct visitor spending as a result of the strategy was completed. This analysis will help stakeholders make sound investment decisions in the future.
