Our team recently completed two tourism projects in Alberta, and we are excited to share the highlights! We worked with Flagstaff County to develop a Tourism Destination Discovery Report and a set of Tourism Investment Opportunity Profiles. The Destination Discovery Report presented the current state of tourism in the County, establishing a baseline of information and recommending a series of practical strategies to guide future growth. The Tourism Investment Opportunity Profiles showcased four promising concepts for high potential tourism development opportunities in the County. These concepts included Enhanced Destination Campgrounds, Expanded Battle River Train Offerings, Alberta Open Farm Days in Flagstaff County, and a County-wide Tourism Festival. Each profile outlined the concept, provided valuable market insights, and identified the types of operators best positioned to bring these ideas to life. Flagstaff County will be using these profiles to attract entrepreneurs and inspire new investment in the region’s tourism future. By showcasing concrete opportunities, the County can better connect with potential partners, encourage local business growth, and position Flagstaff as a unique destination for visitors seeking authentic rural experiences.
We also had the opportunity to work with the Town of Rocky Mountain House to develop a Sports Event Tourism Opportunity Assessment. Sport events are more than just competitions. They bring people together, create community pride, and add energy and vibrancy to a place. They also attract athletes, coaches, spectators, and families, all who contribute to the local economy. Using the recommendations and strategies outlined in the assessment, the Town is well-equipped to bring new sports events to the community in ways that reflect its unique strength and vision. These initiatives will not only expand the variety of sports events available but also increase local involvement, boost tourism, and strengthen Rocky Mountain House’s reputation as a welcoming and dynamic destination for both participants and visitors.
